Life of a great man essay in English AssamQna
Introduction : Srimanta Shankardev is a great man of Assam.I admire him because of his virtues and versatile genius.
His early life : Shankardev was born in 1449 at Alipukhuri of Bardowa in Nowgong. His mother was Satya Sandhya and father was Kusumbar Bhuyan. He lost his parents at an early age and so he was brought up by his grandmother Khersuti.
His education : Shankardev was sent to the 'toll' of Mahendra Kandali at the age of twelve. Because of his charisma, he was declared a scholar.
His activities : He married Surjyawati who died after giving birth to a daughter. He went on pilgrimage with his disciples at the age of 32. He married twice. 'Kirtan' was his best creation. He preached *Namdharma'. Madhabdey was his main disciple. He sets up Namghar and Satras in Assam.
Why I admire him : I do admire him because he united Assam. He was a poet, an artist, a painter, a singer, a musician, a playwright, a thinker and a preceptor of the world. His plays and 'bargeets' are praiseworthy.
Conclusion : I cannot but praise his virtues and ideals. It is not an exaggeration to say that he is an incarnation of God.
